For over 30 years, Dan Pratt has been an integral force at Hughes General Contractors, driving innovation and excellence in tilt-up construction. As one of the early members of the organization, Dan's leadership has been pivotal in developing new products, procedures, and methods that continually advance the tilt-up industry.

Dan has been instrumental in producing TCA award-winning projects almost every year, showcasing pioneering work in exposed integrally colored architectural tilt-up. His contributions include the design and execution of projects with unique shapes, curved panels, conical forms, cast-in figures, and various boardform and formliner features. His influence has expanded the application of tilt-up construction into areas previously considered cost-prohibitive, ranging from small restroom buildings to large high schools, multi-story offices, and prominent convention centers.

In his ongoing role in Concrete Research and Development, Dan has been at the forefront of innovation with his development of MagicSlab, a patented process for pouring architectural joint-free concrete floor slabs on grade. MagicSlab, proprietary to Hughes General Contractors, has been employed for approximately a decade to produce floors with up to 95% fewer joints and cracks. This groundbreaking system has been utilized in a wide array of projects, from high-end colored and polished Class A floors in medical and executive office spaces to heavy industrial and retail outlets, including a grocery store with an entirely joint-free retail floor.
