James M. Williams is the founder and president of AE URBIA / J.M. Williams and Associates, Inc., a Utah-based architectural and structural engineering firm established in 1992. A licensed architect and professional engineer in over 20 states with more than 35 years of experience, James has led his firm in completing over 6,000 projects across the U.S. and internationally, earning more than 200 design awards. He is widely recognized for his pioneering work in tilt-up concrete design, including the first multi-story Class A tilt-up office buildings requiring no structural steel for lateral resistance. A past recipient of the TCA Irving Gill Distinguished Architect Award, James has served on the TCA Board of Directors, the ICC General IBC Code Development Committee, and numerous state and national code and standards committees. He has authored over 30 published articles, judged national architecture competitions, and spoken widely on innovations in tilt-up construction. His notable projects span from Universal Studios' Epic Universe and Atlantis Resorts to award-winning corporate offices and landmark engineering feats such as the country’s tallest waterslide and largest man-made waterfall.
