NSi Industries Headquarters

Summarize the project's program, features, and achievements: The 152,000 square foot project was built as a speculative industrial facility capable of accommodating multiple tenants. During the permitting process, NSi signed a lease for the entire building as their new headquarters. The architectural form language demonstrates relief through varying heights of the panels, recessed entry points, and the symmetrical reveal and hierarchy of the paint pattern.

What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project? The timing was a challenge to incorporate any modifications to the spec shell building as we simultaneously designed the interior upfit without causing a delay in the overall delivery of the shell and subsequent interiors. We met the challenge and were able to save costs by incorporating the under-slab infrastructure to support the interior buildout.

Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project. ? 152,000sf building with panels up to 46’-9” in height ranging in thickness from 8” to 9 ¼”. Maximum panel width of 31’-2” weighing approximately 62 tons. The project consisted of 135 different panels on a 152,000sf building. The challenges for this project were the angled entrances. These entrance features combined spandrel panels bearing on fin panels. Due to the angled characteristic of the entrances, the most complicated aspect was needing to utilize mitered corner connections along with needing to miter portions of the fin panels. WGPM needed to be in regular contact with the GC during the erection phase to coordinate panel sequencing and ensure the panels were erected in a manner that brought the MSA design to life.

What is the potential for this project's impact on the community and/or environment? NSi’s previous existing headquarters was also in the same development-The Park at Huntersville. This new project allowed NSi to expand into a new, state of the art tilt-up facility that will bring the company into a new era of success.
