Delta Freezer Project

Summarize the project's program, features, and achievements: Ram’s Delta Freezer Facility project was a tilt addition to an existing facility, adding an extra 24,000 sq ft of purpose built freezer area for an existing client. Utilizing freezer tilt panel technology, we created a 3 sided tilt addition, with an enclosing 4th side out of IMP. The facility is state of the art in terms of controls, and utilizes the forefront of building technology in concrete tilt up freezer design. Being our second tilt freezer building, we went into this project confident and proud to be an industry leader in providing a innovative, efficient and technology driven building.

What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project? the project was an addition to an existing facility, and with that comes a multitude of complexities, including tie in of services, building envelope, and access between the new build and existing. Furthermore, this project came at a time when material procurement was at an all time struggle, and we had to become creative about managing the schedule, and hitting the hard completion date. We were able to pre order items months in advance, and source more local product, in order to meet these requirements.

Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project. ? with this project being a tilt freezer design on 3 sides, there were may complexities built into the design including envelope details, freezer composite panel design, and isolation block thermal break details. Working closely with the structural engineer, as well as the envelope consultant, we were able to overcome all issues and concerns, and create a rock solid design that transitioned into a solid build. Utilizing our long standing relationship with JK Thermal, we worked hand in hand in order to ensure all aspects of the thermal break requirements were met.

What is the potential for this project's impact on the community and/or environment? This project creates a centralized hub within an existing business park for freezer storage accessibility. Adding to an existing cooler storage facility, the freezer expansion in this particular location, lessens the impact of trucking and cross building transfer while incorporating the growth of the existing business.
