Summarize the project's program, features and achievements.
This is the first building of a two-building industrial development. Half of this initial building was designed as a build-to-suit for Carrier West's new office in Colorado Springs. Intergroup provided a stacked panel design in the Tilt-Up panels with both traditional and deeper reveals to provide relief and heightened visual presence. Achievements in the structural design portion included the checkered pattern “flag” overlap featured in the panels. The property is in a premier location with quick access off Powers Boulevard in the southwest corridor of Colorado Springs.
Communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project.
Structural challenges were in providing reinforcement around multiple checkered style notches at sides of the outer panels, as well as an adequate positive connection to support flag portions to panels behind. Both traditional and deeper reveals were utilized throughout various panels. This created challenges with coordinating correct panel thicknesses, reinforcing designs, and placement of rebar in the field due to the varied reveal depths. An exterior entry eyebrow features framing into pockets within the extended tilt wall panel.
