Stone Theatres chose tilt-up to develop its latest 14-screen movie theater, Park West 14 at Park West Village. Tilt-up design has enhanced the movie-goer's experience at Park West 14 by providing superior sound dampening between theaters. Tilt-up creates the theater's focal point, an expansive plaza for the box offices bordered by two massive towers lit with kinetic lighting.
The towers are created with five unique tilt-up panels, including a panel for the roof and overhangs, eliminating expensive stud and sheathing work from aerial platforms. Each tower included a "Flag Panel" and spandrel panel which required midair transfer and extensive engineering, exhibiting the versatility of today's tilt-up. The project's facade includes colored concrete, thin brick and reveal patterns.
The project was completed from start to finish in eight short months. With movie bookings in advance of construction, the eight-month schedule to opening required tilt-up to get the project under roof faster than any other method. With 30 percent more tilt-up wall area than floor area, Citadel utilized numerous stacks and phased construction to enhance the schedule. Within six weeks, critical path, interior framing and MEP rough-ins were started.
