Soff-Cut International, the pioneer of Ultra Early Entry Concrete cutting technologies, was founded in 1988. The technology was developed through the first-hand experiences of those who worked in the industry and faced the same problems encountered by concrete contractors throughout the world – random cracking.

The Soff-Cut system technology is based on the fact that many random cracks develop between the time the concrete is placed and before the control joints are cut. The first Soff-Cut saw was a small, 25-lb. electric saw with a 5-inch diamond blade with the patented skid plate (the key to the Soff-Cut technology). Sawing was done as soon as the concrete could support the weight of the operator and the saw without disturbing the finish. The founders of Soff-Cut International, and their customers, discovered that this ultra early entry window of opportunity proved to be the best solution in the prevention of random cracking. In addition, early-entry sawing eliminates the need to come back the next day, reduces cleanup caused by water used in traditional cutting and uses a shallower cut, resulting in improved aggregate interlock.

Only Soff-Cut, with its unique Ultra Early Entry cutting system relieves and channels stress to control random cracking. With the Soff-Cut method, control joints are cut in the green zone – within the first hour or two after completion of the final finish, as opposed to conventional sawing after final set.
