Doug Sordyl serves as the Managing Director of ACI’s Strategic Development Council (SDC). The SDC is comprised of concrete industry companies, whose top executives work together to focus on industry critical technologies/issues, identify barriers to the acceptance of those technologies or to the resolution of those issues, and bring resources to bear on these focused priorities to remove those barriers.

In his role as Managing Director, Industry Affairs, Sordyl helps ACI build stronger alliances with other concrete, construction, and code organizations. Within ACI, Sordyl serves on the Board Advisory Committee - Sustainable Development, the International Committee, and the ACI Foundation.

Prior to joining ACI in 2004, Sordyl spent 30 years in a multi-disciplined, architectural/ engineering consulting firm as a structural engineer, project manager, and in company operations. Sordyl has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Detroit; holds professional engineering registrations in the States of Michigan and California; and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
