North Pointe Building E is a four-story, Class A Office building of independent steel structure with tilt panels attached to the exterior of the structure. This concept allowed for the structure to be completed independently of the tilt panels, thus allowing for the interior core and shell and T.I. to progress while the panels were being built, speeding up the overall schedule. This also allowed for greater flexibility with the panels as it reduced the thickness of the tilt panels while still maintaining the concrete tilt look and structural advantage.
On the south center of the building, two-story-tall segmented radius panels were tilted by one crane and then transferred to another crane to set the panels in place. All panels were formed and poured on site on casting slabs that were placed and designed in such away that they can be used for the sister building construction in the future.
This revolutionary method of attaching panels to the steel structure allowed for speed, pecise adjustment, and no bearing of each level of panels on the one below it as the steel structure supported each level of tilt panels independently. The building is LEED Silver qualifying.

The Tilt-Up Achievement Awards were established to honor projects that use site-cast tilt-up concrete to introduce new building types, advance industry technology and provide unique solutions to building programs. Winning entries illustrate the variety, beauty, and flexibility of tilt-up construction.
