An open-air lifestyle retail shopping center, the 136,000 square-foot Shops at Boardwalk is home to a host of high-end retailers, including Borders Books and Music, Chico’s, Chipotle, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, Jos A. Bank, Nextel Communications, Planet Sub and Yankee Candle.
The experienced retail developer was accustomed to the design flexibility and construction schedule that Tilt-Up provides. Further, the owner noted that Tilt-Up was the choice for this project, because of the different features on the storefronts and the substantial savings in masonry.
The high level of finish detailing and creative use of brick prompted judges to select this project for an award.Requiring 200,000 thin bricks and 70,000 conventional bricks, the biggest challenge for this project was matching the two. Although these bricks were applied differently, the end product was an identical match.
The center also boasts unique towers, steel marquis and fabric awnings, as well as a variety of hardscaped landscaping accents and a fountain to enhance the shopping experience.
