TCA Tilt-Up Project Profile - Municipal Division

Article tools: Coming soon!

This project utilized thin brick tilt-up wall panels. Careful attention was paid to the thin brick details and the contractor achieved a high level of quality making this project very difficult to tell the difference from traditional masonry construction. Window openings use corner bricks at all four sides of the opening, further reinforcing the brick depth. Panel joints are integrated with the design, which uses two colors of bricks that further defines and creates depth in the panels. Along the east and west elevations, angled narrow strip tilt-up walls pull away from the elevation and the remaining gap is in-filled with a two-story glass curtain wall.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
