Brady Industries

TCA Tilt-Up Project Profile - Warehouse/Distribution Division

Article tools: Coming soon!

Brady Industries is a full line, full service janitorial/sanitation wholesale distribution company. It was important for this client to build a building that was not only LEED Certified, but also technically superior and cost-effective. That is why tilt-up concrete construction was the method chosen for this project. Although the project was on a tight budget, the architectural design provided great curb appeal and interacts with the local environment.

The design is a simple box with some perimeter panels around the office area to help support an exterior trellis element. The shadows from these elements are constantly moving throughout the day, and bring life to the building. Simple design concepts were well executed and the project was kept on budget and schedule. The tilt-up concrete construction helped achieve the LEED certification because it is considered a regional building material with high recycled content, and insulated tilt-up panels were used, along with large windows and skylights for natural lighting.

Brady Industries said of the project, "We are dedicated to finding solutions that are both technically superior and cost effective. We are focused on continuous improvements and believe these guiding values will sustain Brady Industries and our customers' success now and in the future."

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
