Facing the economic crash of 2008, tilt-up was an obvious choice to provide an economical safe, secure, durable, and inviting house of worship for Tomoka Christian Church. Six years in the making, the facility boasts the use of tilt-up for its architectural features, including elaborate entrances, creative juxtaposition, radius panels, and sanctuary elevations exposed interior and exterior. Tilt-up solved the long-span, high-winds load requirements while providing the most economical solution to construction. The Tomoka Christian Church is part of tilt-up construction's revival. The building is architecturally pleasing with desired durability and low life-cycle costs The facility is a flagship for Cogun's Southeast marketing endeavors.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
