Cranberry Crossroads

TCA Tilt-Up Project Profile - Office Division

Article tools: Coming soon!

The Cranberry Crossroads project demonstrates a creative, economical use of tilt-up for a three-story, Class A office space. Al. Neyer and Elmhurst utilized tilt-up as a solution in a region where it's not often utilized.

The seven-week construction period included 530 labor-days dedicated to tilt-wall completion. With only 30,034 square feet of slab and 28,436 square feet of wall panels, the construction team had to stack panels, at times three-high. As such, panel placement was well planned, and the bracing of each panel was clear from any other panels.

To meet the project's challenges, the superintendent decided to brace the majority of the panels to the outside. The crew minimized crane downtime while using repetition with stacking boxes to make formwork, reinforcing, rustication and brick inlay work more efficient.

This aesthetically pleasing office building features recesses, brick inlays, window details, stiff-backs and stay-forms.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
