Nova Southeastern University at The Pointe

The Pointe consists of 4-story load bearing Tilt-Up panels. The floor system is composite steel beams with metal deck and concrete. The roof system for the building is bar joists and metal deck.

Tilt-Up panels were used to resist the wind forces induced from hurricane force winds without the need of internal poured-in-place shear walls. The design team completed this with radius panels all along the main frontage elevation. The 65-foot tall panels were constructed with a 350-foot radius. The inset of the center panel is highlighted by 2-story clear height glass between the third and fourth floors. A radius spandrel panel completes the front finish.

The entrance features 4-story glass with two metal clad canopies. This feature is created using six steel tube columns along the curved glass face that support the exterior canopies, the floor framing, the glass, and the 44-foot long radius Tilt-Up panel beam. The flat area of the beam panel supports three 14-foot, 6-inch high vertical radius panels that complete the front feature and support the sign banner.

Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment.
