TCA Tilt-Up Project Profile - Office Division

Article tools: Coming soon!

C. T. Taylor Co., Inc. of Hudson, Ohio was the contractor on this attractive three story steel-framed office building. The panels for this structure range in size from 4ft x 4ft to 5ft x 25ft and weighed from 5,000 to 14,000 pounds. Panels were cast face-down on a separate casting bed with simple reveal strips for emphasis.

The middle sets of panels are recessed from the outer panels presenting a distinctive and subtle three-dimensional facade. Although the building is a steel frame, the tilt-up panels were designed to transfer their load directly to the footings instead of the steel frame.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
