Boca Village Corporate Center

TCA Tilt-Up Project Profile - Special Projects Division

Article tools: Coming soon!

The Boca Village Corporate Center, a class "A" four-story office building atop a three-story parking garage, sets a new standard by being the first LEED-certified development in the heart of Boca Raton. By using Tilt-Up construction, the subcontractor was able to build a more economical building that took up less land, while accommodating an accelerated schedule and preserving the overall vision.

Architectural features included various size radius panels, spandrel panels and panels off-set at a 15-degree angle. The Boca Village Corporate Center is also comprised of other various shaped panels that required detailed expertise and attention-to-detail, thereby delivering the architect's design in a more economical way. Originally, this project was going to be built as two separate cast-in-place structures with architectural precast cladding. Instead, the contractor stacked the structures and used a hybrid concrete frame with load bearing Tilt-Up panels and onsite non-load bearing architectural panels.

Due to this method of construction, the owners were able to save money, bringing a financial return to the developers. Recently, the Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors acknowledged the Boca Village Corporate Center with its highest award, the 2008 Eagle Award.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
