Conceived as two interlocking bars, the language of the building exterior uses formliner panels and large expanses of glass to accentuate the ends and entry axis, celebrating the honest forms of the concrete tilt-wall panels and invigorating the spaces in between with architectural highlights. Plan asymmetry and material juxtapositions add interest to the composition of the building form. A muted aesthetic of raw concrete accented with warm gray painted tones, reflective glazing, zinc and structural steel delivers an effective, economical yet highly spirited facade that is indicative of the goals the client group set out to achieve in presence. The culmination and architectural feature of the building is a zinc clad cantilevered conference box that protrudes from the face of the building forming the main entry and creating an iconic presence from Clay Road. A perforated "copper" shroud surrounds the cantilevered cube and gives a touch of accent to draw interest amidst the remaining exterior.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
