Built in approximately eight and a half months, the 1800 Military Trail parking garage used Tilt-Up to provide an innovative hybrid structural system.
The engineer and contractor found that the site itself was extremely restricted, partially due to a conservation area located only ten-feet east of the project. Therefore, panel erection and bracing had to be carefully executed. In order to work with the space limitations, pours were completed in two horseshoe phases and panels were erected from only one side.
This project is a prime example of Tilt-Up setting a new standard in innovation. The panels, beams and columns were all cast on-site using a unique prestressing adaptation. These elements worked compositely with the cast-in-place concrete deck. The benefits of this innovative system include being cost-effective, efficient and fast-paced. Tilt-Up also increased durability, increased openness, decreased construction while delivering a pleasing aesthetic design.
