Clayco Ranks No. 10 among Top Green Contractors
Clayco is the only St. Louis firm to be listed on ENR’s first-ever ranking of sustainable contractors
St. Louis, Missouri (October 16, 2007) -- Clayco Inc. has ranked No. 10 on leading industry publication Engineering News-Record’s first-ever ranking of the Top 50 Green Contractors. Clayco is the only St. Louis firm on the list and one of only two Missouri companies.
Published in the Sept. 24 Top 400 Contractors Sourcebook, the list ranks contractors based on 2006 revenue from projects that were either registered or certified with a major third-party environmental standards or ratings group. Clayco’s ranking was based on $210 million in sustainable project revenue, comprising 33 percent of Clayco’s total revenue.
“The building impact on the environment is significant, and Clayco is proud to be a responsible builder,” said Paul Todd Merrill, P.E., LEED AP, Clayco’s director of sustainable construction. “Nearly one-third of our clients ask about LEED certification. When they don’t, we recommend sustainable practices that can be implemented into their project, whether they want to pursue certification or not.”
Clayco currently has 44 LEED Accredited Professionals and provides in-house training to educate all employees on sustainable design and construction. Clayco’s portfolio of LEED projects includes more than 30 facilities either completed, in design or under construction. Examples include CORTEX One, Solae Co.’s global headquarters, the Edward A. Doisey Research Center at Saint Louis University, and the Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital Center for Orthopaedic Medicine.
In addition to being ranked as one of the country’s top green contractors, Clayco also ranked in two other categories in the sourcebook – No. 3 on the Top 20 in Distribution and Warehouses list and No. 11 on the Top 25 in Commercial Offices list. On the original Top 400 Contractors list, Clayco ranked No. 80.
