Tilt-Up Concrete Association Announces Cliff Brewis as Luncheon Keynote for Annual Convention

Brewis is the senior director of editorial operations at McGraw-Hill Construction/Dodge

Mt. Vernon, Iowa (May 8, 2006) -- The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) – a non-profit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of site-cast Tilt-Up as the preferred construction method – has announced that Cliff Brewis, senior director of editorial operations at McGraw-Hill Construction/Dodge, will serve as the luncheon keynote for its second annual Convention, to be held Oct. 4-7 in Denver, Colo.

Brewis will review the construction program and resources available from McGraw-Hill – the leading provider of construction information in the industry. McGraw-Hill Construction connects people, projects and products through Dodge, Sweets, Architectural Record, Engineering News Record, Regional Publications and Economic Forecasting services. His program will begin with an overall economic perspective and then move to a discussion of specific types of construction. According to Ed Sauter, TCA Executive Director, Brewis’ discussion on what types of construction are expanding and declining will be a great benefit to attendees of this year’s Convention with the theme – “M.A.S.S. (Modern, Artistic, Structural, Sustainable) Appeal – Achieving New Heights.”

Responsible for the newsgathering operation of McGraw-Hill Construction/Dodge, Brewis is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has an M.B.A. from American University in Washington, D.C. With more than 25 years of experience in construction, he has worked for a building product manufacturer, a subcontractor and has more than 20 years with McGraw-Hill.

To be held at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center in Englewood, the three-day Tilt-Up Convention will feature intensive training and education seminars for contractors and engineers, architects and marketing personnel in concurrent sessions. A building tour of award winning projects and a trade show also will take place at the event. New to the convention this year is a golf outing and product demonstrations. Construction personnel, marketing professionals, engineers, architects and owners are all invited and encouraged to attend in order to maximize the benefit to each company.

The Convention also serves as another venue for the Tilt-Up Supervisor’s Certification exam – a joint program of the TCA and the American Concrete Institute. The examination consists of a closed-book, two-hour written test with 80 multiple-choice questions. For more information about the exam, please contact TCA at 319-895-6911.

Additional information and registration details are available on TCA’s Convention website or by visiting www.tilt-up.org and selecting the TCA Convention from the Calendar of Events menu.

TCA was founded in 1986 to improve the quality and acceptance of site cast Tilt-Up construction, a construction method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment.
