Tilt-Con Receives Ashley Furniture Home Store Contract

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (October 5, 2004): Altamonte Springs-based Tilt-Con Corporation, one of the nation’s largest tilt-up concrete constructors, has been awarded the contract from Miller Construction Company to build the new Ashley Furniture Home Store operated by City Furniture. The store is located in Davie, Florida.

The 35,000-square-foot project, which is expected to begin construction in October 2004, is designed by Garcia, Brenner & Stromberg and will be the first Ashley store Tilt-Con has built for City Furniture. Tilt-Con recently completed a 220,000-square-foot expansion of the City Furniture Distribution Center in Tamarac.

Tilt-Con employs 220 individuals in Florida and currently has more than 25 projects underway across the state. A few of Tilt-Con’s current South Florida projects include Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, the Shoppes at Herron Lakes in Coral Springs, and Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business in Boca Raton.

The tilt-up construction process involves using high-capacity mobile cranes to lift concrete wall panels, which are poured on site, into place. Tilt-up construction is becoming increasingly popular because the structures withstand hurricanes better than other materials, are more fire resistant and require less heat and air conditioning. Construction is quicker, costs less, and maintenance and up-keep are substantially reduced.

Founded in 1987, Tilt-Con was recently ranked the number one tilt-up concrete contractor in Florida by Concrete Construction Magazine. Tilt-Con also received three Tilt-Up Concrete Association Achievement Awards in 2004 and 14 since 1995, the most of any concrete company in the U.S. For more information, visit www.tilt-con.com.
