Tilt-Up 101

Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm

The 2015 Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) International Convention will feature a full day of seminars and events covering the basics of the tilt-up building system.

The workshop, sponsored by HD Supply Construction & Industrial White Cap, will provide those contractors and design professionals unfamiliar with system, or those looking to firm up their comprehension, an in-depth base of knowledge to build upon. The 2015 TCA Convention will be the first in many years to offer this introductory material.

The material, which will advance in complexity throughout the day, will include discussion of tilt-up as a building system, training crews for tilt-up construction, project administration, safety, quality control and more.

The day will end with an outdoor demonstration, also sponsored by HD Supply Construction & Industrial White Cap, where attendees will get a close-up, hands-on look at tilt-up in action.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Tilt-Up, It's a System | Laurence Smith, P.Eng.
  • Training New Crews, Developing a Tilt-Up Workforce | Shawn Hickey
  • Round Table Discussions - Safety, Estimating, Finishes
  • Project Administration: Safety Programs and Quality Control | Panel Discussion

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
