TCA Membership Benefits: Contractors

Become a TCA Contractor member and increase your industry exposure!

Understanding the benefits and becoming an active member are two ways of maximizing your return on investment.

Glenn Doncaster
President
Citadel Contractors, Inc.

It is in our best interest to support the work of TCA to ensure continued focus on industry safety, promotion and advancement. The message TCA carries benefits all of us. Their ability to reach architects, engineers, potential clients and even our competitors makes our job of selling and building tilt-up structures easier.

Global Recognition

As a TCA member, your company will have the opportunity to submit for, and receive, highly acclaimed Tilt-Up Achievement Awards, which will provide you with industry- and world-wide recognition. The TCA Achievement Awards program was established to honor projects that use site-cast tilt-up concrete to introduce new building types, advance industry technology and provide unique solutions to building programs. The winning entries illustrate the variety, beauty, and flexibility of the tilt-up construction concept, as well as tilt-up's unique ability to get the job done faster and often for less money.

Additionally, each year the TCA selects a recipient of the Murray Parker Memorial Award. Named for Murray Parker who died in 2000, this award was created to recognize a contractor who has significantly contributed to the tilt-up industry. Parker was regarded for his development and promotion of tilt-up throughout the industry, especially in the Atlantic Provinces region of Canada. As General Manager/Vice President of B.D. Stevens, Ltd. in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Parker is credited with introducing tilt-up to an area of the world where many thought it was impossible to use the medium. His contributions and commitment to excellence helped the method gain creditability in the area and paved the way for future Tilt-Up projects.

Past winners of this award for innovation include Roger Meyer of Summit Concrete, Shawn Hickey of SiteCast Inc., Frank Adames of Contratistas Civiles y Mecanicos and others.

Exposure

Becoming a TCA member means that your company will gain exposure to potential clients through the TCA Membership Directory and the TCA website. When owners, developers, engineers and architects are looking for services in the tilt-up industry they often consult our membership first. Our online member map application allows you to view a map for each state, province or country where TCA members are located. Your listing is connected to a customized profile page about your company with recent projects from our database, contact info, awards, etc.

Education and Networking

Members receive preferred pricing on our wide variety of educational and networking events throughout the year, like the TCA Annual Convention, Local and Regional Seminars, the TCA Annual Meeting (held each year during World of Concrete), and other valuable events.

These events provide you with an opportunity to build relationships with peers who can help you troubleshoot issues, discover new efficiencies and provide referrals for projects outside their market.

Certification

The goal of the new TCA Company Certification Program is to provide owners, specifiers, and designers with a method for assuring the experience, quality and performance of tilt-up concrete contractors. The program will certify that companies who manage the tilt-up construction process have met the criteria established for evaluation. The criteria includes analysis of company policies, procedures, and ability to consistently deliver a quality product and that they hire trained, certified and qualified personnel in all aspects of the tilt-up construction process. Set yourself apart from the competition and establish yourself as an industry leader through participation in this program.

Resources

As a TCA member, your firm receives preferred pricing on The Architecture of Tilt-Up, Engineering Tilt-Up, The Construction of Tilt-Up and other industry leading publications, multimedia resources, and promotional materials. Additionally, your membership includes a subscription to Tilt-Up Today, the quarterly magazine of the Tilt-Up Concrete Association. You can use these resources to market tilt-up in your region, building awareness and opening new doors for your business to grow.

Additionally, the TCA provides resources to keep you and your workers safe, improve quality control and expand your knowledge of the potential of tilt-up.

Advocacy

Perhaps the most important benefit of your TCA membership is that it allows you to play an important role in advancing the industry. Your involvement can be as simple as giving us a call with an idea or submitting firm news for inclusion in our weekly TILT-Update and publication on our website.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
