Matthew Bell

Structural Engineer at LJB’s Facilities Division

Photo of Matt BellMatthew Bell is a structural engineer and field engineer within LJB's Facilities Division. In this capacity, Matt provides complete building shell design of low-rise commercial structures, including a specialty in the design of tilt-up construction. As lead field engineer supporting the LJB's CON/STEEL Alliance, Matt is also responsible for training contractors in the means and methods of tilt-up construction. He facilitates both classroom training and on-site in-the-field training.

Matt is currently serving as the chairperson for the subcommittee overseeing the Tilt-Up Engineering Manual development. As chairperson, Matt is responsible for gaining consensus on the Table of Contents from the subcommittee members; managing the delivery of the Chapters from the co-authors; coordinating the review activities of the subcommittee; and communicating progress reports with the chairperson of the Technical Committee and with the TCA Board of Directors





About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
