The Tilt-Up Concrete Association sponsors a student design competition every fall to raise the awareness of Tilt-Up's inherent benefits. The competition highlights how those advantages can be used to address current topics of interest in the construction industry.
Submission are judged based on the following criteria:
- Creative use of the design concept in overall solution
- Application of the Tilt-Up construction method
- Appropriateness of response in the context
2009 - The Sustainable Coffee Shop
The 2009 TCA/PCA International Student Design Competition: The Sustainable Coffee Shop was sponsored by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association and the Portland Cement Association.
Architecture students were invited to submit conceptual designs for a new coffee shop in an urban market, specifically designed with emphasis on the practical sustainability using site cast concrete panels and components known as “Tilt-Up” concrete.
2008 - Fire Storm Housing
The 2008 TCA/PCA International Student Design Competition: Fire Storm Housing 2008 was sponsored by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association and the Portland Cement Association.
Students in the field of architecture were invited to present conceptual designs for firestorm-resistant housing located in the Santa Ana region of California using site-cast Tilt-Up concrete panels for their shell components.
