Peter Courtois Memorial Award Winners

Courtois immeasurably contributed to the Tilt-Up industry, and he served as the initial president of TCA.

2008 - Malcom Davis

A pioneer in the truest sense of the word, Malcolm Davis sponsored many programs in conjunction with the design and construction industry in Australia to promote Tilt-Up in the early 1980s. When Davis began these promotional efforts, there were only a handful of Tilt-Up projects in Australia, but by 1985, his efforts had resulted in about 200 projects.  He helped launch and then served as the first president of the Australian Tilt-Up Concrete Association. He has also been an instrumental pioneer for Tilt-Up development in South Africa and other regions.

This award honors Peter Courtois, who died in 1992 after serving as senior vice president of engineering for Dayton Superior Concrete Accessories (formerly Dayton-Richmond Corporation). Courtois, an employee of Dayton Superior for 32 years, immeasurably contributed to the Tilt-Up industry through his tireless effort and dedication to several industry associations.

He served on seven ACI committees, most notably the ACI-551 Tilt-Up Construction Committee. In addition, he was a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and served as the initial president of TCA, for which he was made an honorary member in 1991.

This award is presented to a recipient whose dedication to the greater good of the Tilt-Up industry is recognized by their peers.
