TCA Professional Awards

The professional awards program honors outstanding contributions to the field of Tilt-Up design, construction and innovation.

Each year, TCA honors five individuals or companies with professional achievement awards at the annual meeting that is held in conjunction with the World of Concrete. Below are the award recipients for 2014, selected by the Association's Board of Directors after nomination by the general membership and recommendation by the TCA’s Awards Committee.

Below are brief descriptions of the five professional TCA awards:

Peter Courtois Memorial Award

This is the TCA’s highest honor and is presented to a recipient whose career long dedication to the greater good of the tilt-up industry is recognized by their peers. See past winners >

Murray Parker Memorial Award

Named in honor of Murray Parker, this award was created to recognize a contractor who has significantly contributed to the Tilt-Up industry. See past winners >

Robert Aiken Memorial Award

Honoring the achievements of Robert Aiken -- one of the founding fathers of site-cast Tilt-Up construction -- this award honors those whose individual creativity has led to the advancement of the Tilt-Up industry. See past winners >

Irving Gill Distinguished Architect Award

The TCA’s Distinguished Architect Award was renamed in 2008 to honor Gill - a prominent architect in Southern California. Without his architectural mindset, the industry may very well have taken a much slower time to rise to its current dominance. See past winners >

David L. Kelly Distinguished Engineer Award

The TCA's Distinguished Engineer Award honors the career-long commitment by Dave Kelly of Meadow Burke and recognizes members of the Tilt-Up industry who are committed to pursuing engineering excellence and advancing the industry. See past winners >

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
