2005 TCA Achievement Awards
The 2005 Tilt-Up Achievement winners continue to show growth of creativity in Tilt-Up construction.

Although submittals were once again judged on aesthetic expression, schedule, size, originality, finishes and special conditions, this year’s judges also placed an increased emphasis on the characteristics of the projects that would attract and hold the interest of architects and building owners.

The judges routinely commented on the continued growth of creativity in applying the principles of forming and lifting site cast Tilt-Up elements with limited or no constraint on the size, shape or complexity of the geometry.

Although 37 structures were selected as worthy award receiptients, the panel of judges rated eight projects from across all categories to receive the exclusive title, Excellence in Achievement. These projects, detailed below, stand out for their unique and inventive use of the Tilt-Up method.

Seen below, these projects are noted with this symbol:

TCA Awards

The purpose of the Awards Program is to recognize outstanding site cast Tilt-Up structures and advances in technology, products and methods used in the Tilt-Up industry.

This year marks a significant advancement in the program for the TCA as the judging panel expanded to 13 including a staggered, three-year rotation for nine judges who represent the key membership categories within the TCA.

To qualify for consideration, projects must be submitted by a member of the team that maintains a current TCA membership. However, the program recognizes all team participants that are TCA members.

Another significant change from previous years involves the project eligibility. Because of the increasing size of the Association and the wealth of quality projects that have been completed in the past but not submitted for consideration, the TCA eliminated the requirement for completion in the previous twelve months prior to the submittal date, opening the competition to projects completed throughout history.

In addition, the TCA recognized projects from previous years that may have been overlooked because of larger numbers for a given category in that year or the inconsistency of the annual regional judging panel versus the new term system.
