Tilt-Up was selected because it seemed best suited to the architectural requirements of the project, and there is significant Tilt-Up expertise available in the area.

The large radius of the entry panels and the complex rustication and recesses, combined with a tight schedule for the concrete work were the major challenges. The large radiuses were formed by using radius form panels by Symons Forms. This project was the first time that they had attempted to use their form for a Tilt-Up application, and they were anxious to have us try out their form system in this way. The forming could have been done with plywood, but the steel allowed us to hold a tighter tolerance and gave us a better finished product.

Careful detailing of the panel shop drawings allowed us to make virtually no errors on this complex project. The tight schedule was maintained with careful planning and a lot of hard work. In addition large panels and long reaches required the use of a 300 ton crawler crane.

Different colors of paint-accented reliefs and rustications in panels. Stone veneer accents were used to create a rich image and add depth to the concrete exterior. Colors suggest California sunshine and some of the more classic styles of architecture found in Southern California.
