Unisource

1996 Tilt-Up Achievement Award Winner

Owner: Unisource Worldwide, Inc.

A dramatic architectural statement for Unisource Worldwide, Inc., of St. Louis, Missouri, was completed October 3, 1995.  Broad radius panels, the first radius tilt-up panels to be constructed in the St. Louis area, create a focal point for Unisource’s new 185,000 square foot regional office and distribution facility.

The entire project contains 58,054 square feet of tilt-up panels.  The main warehouse was constructed of load bearing tilt-up panels providing a 24-foot clear height facility.

Original plans called for the curved office façade to be constructed of brick.  Clayco convinced the owner to switch to curved tilt-up panels, however, allowing for a sleek look and a project that came in at $23.10 per square foot overall.

The necessary frame work for the radius panels was placed outside of the floor area due to limited space, and three separate pours were required to complete the front entry and roof screen panels.  The office portion of the structure also features a ribbon glass system and accent banding.
